As you step into the living room from the bedroom, you'll see sliding doors for added privacy to separate the living space from the intimate bedroom. Additionally, there is a coin-operated laundry facility for your convenience. Hono Kai is located at Ma'alaea Bay near many attractions, shops, and restaurants. Condo was clean and modern and just 50 feet from the beach. We look right out onto the water and could watch whales each day we were there. Also a beautiful beach that you can walk right out your door and go for an hour each way with no condos or buildings along the beachfront. This complex is a little older like most all condo complexes in Maui but everything is new and nice in the unit A5 that we stayed in. Recommend walking down the street to the little storefronts to get an ice cream or coffee. There is a marina there by the shops for whale watching and snorkeling trips so no need to drive down there. Will be back soon to this unit.

We really enjoyed our stay Hono Kai A5. The place is very close to the water and we enjoyed sleeping at night listening to the waves. Clean and and well provided for the activities we planned. And we loved being on the south side of the island.

First trip to the islands and the accommodations were exactly what we were looking for. Direct beach access and the amenities were clean and efficient. Instead of 50 steps to the beach this unit was about 15 and enjoyed every minute.

We always stay at Hono Kai A5. It is ground level, beach front with a great ocean view. Just feet from the white sand beach and ocean. Walk for miles on the beach with very few people. Can also walk right down to the business place and get dinner or an afternoon ice cream cone. The aquarium is amazing. We walked down to the mini golf center on this trip and it was great. Two amazing 18 hole mini golf courses a small water park and climbing wall. It was great for our sons to have a fun and very affordable experience when we weren't at the beach or on a big adventure. Hono Kai is in the middle of the island and close to the airport and all major island venues. Will be back again soon. Five stars!

This was such a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. It was clean, modern, safe, and perfect to share with my sweetie. We were so grateful for the gift of coffee and coffee filters for our first morning. The linens were soft and the bed was comfortable. You can hear the waves 24/7 through the walls and it was so relaxing. We were also grateful for the Tommy Bahama beach chairs, boogie boards, cooler, and umbrella in the condo for us to use. The pool was always clean and we LOVED that it was only 10 feet away from our lanai. The view was fabulous and we could see whale spouts in the distance. The only minor thing I can say is that I thought we had better beach access from right at our back door near the pool. That's what it looked like in the pictures but in reality there is a wall that protects the building from the beach and it's a 6 foot jump you have to make to get on the beach. Best bet to get to the beach from this condo is walking slightly down the road to the public beach access. 10/10 experience though and I will recommend this place to my family and friends.

The owners of the unit sit an amazing job in renovating! Great relaxing feeling upon entry! We enjoy cooking our own meals and the unit has all the amenities needed. The location is close to the airport and all the stores for you to purchase anything you need! In conclusion, I would definitely rent this unit again if I was to go back to Maui, as the owners have done a great job. Thanks!!

The condo is centrally located in south Maui just 15 minutes from the airport. The condo is beautiful and everything is newly remodeled. It is a smaller resort with big aloha spirit and at the end of a quiet street next to a beautiful state beach park. Maui’s longest beach is literally steps off the lanai. Every morning we had long beach walks and sat by the pool later in the day. Tons of snorking right out your back door with many sea turtles everywhere. Short walk to Ma’alaea Harbor where many water adventures sail from. We walked down to dinner at the Point Break Pizza place and even did yoga one evening at the Aquarium. There is a local club at the harbor called “Da Playground” where we saw a fun dialing pianos show. There are 2-3 different evening shows each week. There was a local art at the shops and we bought a framed Hawaii print. There are several other shops and dining options at the harbor along with Maui Ocean Center, The Aquarium of Hawaii. I don’t think you can find a more convenient location in Maui to stay and it truly feels like the Hawaii we dreamed of.

A5 unit is great, first quality furniture, equipment, linen. We took some pictures of the brands because we liked so much. Welcome gift was a great touch! It is a bit too tight for 4 people but still does it despite not too much closet space. Pool towels, beach chairs and a couple of umbrellas, cooler (not sure if they were left over from previous guest or standard for the unit). Back patio is right in front of the water, just the pool gets in the way. The complex is not new but is very well maintained. Parking is included, stalls are very small. The location is very good. It is within walking distance to the south harbor where all tours depart from. It has easy access to everywhere in the island: the south, the west, 10/15 min from airport…in sum, we will stay in the same place in our next visit to Maui.

We loved our stay at Hono Kai! The beach was right outside the door and the provided chairs were great. The condo was clean and had everything we needed to do a little cooking. It was a nice central location with many things close by.

The unit we stayed in was literally feet away from a beautiful beach that wasn’t crowded at all. You could walk for miles exploring tide pools, looking for whales and there were even sea turtles who swam close enough to the beach to see. The location was amazing! Beyond that, the unit was extremely comfortable, clutter free, clean, and modern.

The condo is so beautifully decorated with everything new. The beautiful beach is right out the back door and we walked for miles on the white sand. Many sea turtles on this visit and we enjoyed viewing them from the lawn chairs. We walked down to the aquarium and did yoga in front of the big glass tanks filled with sharks, rays and other fish. What a great trip!

This is not a typical resort condo, but it's fairly central location and wonderful setting overlooking the bay (and whales!) and right on the edge of sugar beach was perfect for us. Unit A-5 was clean and recently updated. We are very happy we stayed here.

Beautiful! Open the sliding door and take a few steps to the pool. A few more steps and there’s the beach. Definitely recommend! Never stayed in this area before and felt very safe and friendly. We loved that it was centrally located. We could always stop back to the unit to change clothes or re-gear up for the next adventure. The building was well monitored and clean. Oh and this unit the laundry is right across from the front door so easy. Keyless entry was a bonus. Saw turtles every day right out front . There is a reef to snorkel and beach to swim about a 2 min walk down the beach from the door. Probably not a snorkeling destination spot but we didn’t go too far out but we did get to snorkel with a turtle. Truly loved A-5 Hono Kai.

The last time we had stayed at this property was 27 years ago. The property was every bit as great as we remembered, even better. So close to the shore, well-maintained, an updated unit and a friendly, quiet environment. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything that you might possibly need- all good quality supplies. Our unit also had a few extras such as beach towels, boogie, board, beach, chairs, and basic cleaning supplies.

We had a perfect 10 day stay in Hono Kai A5. Our condo was perfect. Very clean, well appointed with a super comfortable bed and well-stocked kitchen and a proximity to the beach that cannot be beat. Our airlines had delays and we ended up coming in after midnight, but wasn’t a problem, easy to access with all instructions emailed to us early. Got in and found peaceful, clean, relaxing location with pool right outside door and beachside with beautiful ambiance. Hit all our requirements except the ocean view. Although it’s ocean front our unit’s view was partially blocked by adjacent building and the pool. Our unit (A5) was near the beach access point so there were people coming and going all the time so the privacy was a bit less during daytime. Other than that, the cleanliness, amenities, check in and price were all excellent.

Great get-away right on the beach! We loved that it was quiet and private. Can’t beat the view. We spent every morning walking the beach (which is literal steps from your door) at sunrise and even saw whales and turtles from our window. Would have been really fun to have binoculars to check them out better. The area itself is walkable to the marina where many of the whale watching/cruises depart as well as the ocean center. Condo is centrally located so you can drive to the major destinations easily. The only drawback about the location is that there aren’t many restaurants in walking distance. As far as condo furnishings, there were only a few minor things we wish we had during our stay: reusable grocery bags (we didn’t know plastic bags are banned on Maui), bag clips, Kleenex/facial tissues, and some basic condiments like ketchup would have been nice. Otherwise we had everything we needed for our day-to-day life as well as everything needed to cook. We had a wonderful time here!

With coffee on the beach each morning, snorkelling off shore each day, and a refreshing pool to keep us cool, the three of us had a lovely time. We appreciated the feel of a private beach away from the hustle and bustle yet a short drive away from the action. The space was clean and had everything we needed to cook our meals. We would come back again in a heart beat.

My partner and I had THE BEST stay at the hono kai. The residence was clean and quiet with excellent views. The location is phenomenal, excellent beach for playing and snorkeling. 10/10 would recommend! We will be coming back!!

Very quiet place in Wailuku. Very relaxing and gives you quick access to the beach. Quick 20 mins away from beaches and other activities which is nothing since you have your car. Our stay here was really nice. Pretty accurate description on amenities. The A/C unit was really nice during the hot days. There was no tubberware available as another reviewer had mentioned so we had to get our own for the week long stay. The location was beautiful and right on the ocean. There were two boogie boards, a cooler, and beach chairs which were really nice to be able to take to the beach with us. The hide a bed in the couch was pretty comfortable and being able to have access to a smart TV. This is a great little condo for a honeymooners getaway & the king size bed was comfortable too.

Unit was well stocked with everything we needed to enjoy our stay - cooler, towels for the beach, beach chairs, snorkel gear, etc. The unit was in a great location - literally 25 steps from the beach and right next to the pool. Unit was clean and bed was comfortable. We did see several bugs (tiny/small ant size) that we we told were termites. After the first day, we did not see them any more. Unit is also centrally located with easy access to destinations in any direction and walking distance to a handful of shops and places to eat. Host stayed in continued communication with us and I felt like we could reach them any time if needed.

We absolutely loved this place. The beach so close right out the sliding glass door. The bed was so comfortable and it made the week we spent there so amazing. The condo was fully stocked with everything you need to cook any meal. The only problem we had was in the bathroom when I used my blow dryer, the breaker would pop off. I was glad I was able to find the breaker box to reset it.

This condo is in the perfect location right next to a beautiful stretch of beach although there is no much sand right in front of condo, you have plenty right next to it. It’s very well stocked with all the essentials for cooking and had plenty of kitchen clean up essentials which was very handy. The laundry room is right in front of condo entrance as well and the condo provided laundry detergent and drying sheets. The laundry itself had a change machine to give you quarters, which is super convenient. They also had a few beach chairs and cooler. There was also a community collection of pool and beach toys to use. It saved me from having to buy that stuff for my toddler. The place could use a little bit more cleanliness. There’s spiderwebs in lots of corners and shower liner was moldy. There was also lots of dust bunnies and dirt in lots of places that are hard to not miss when traveling with a toddler that gets into all the places. That being said, the condo is still a super cute little place. Would definitely stay here again.

Our stay at this cute one-bedroom apartment in Wailuku was pleasant as expected. There were plenty of cookware and tupperware which made cooking and storing leftovers easy because food in Hawaii is expensive! The bed in the master bedroom was super comfy but we spent most of our down time lazing about on the fold-out couch watching Columbo on Roku, which was free with ads. : ) Beach chairs, snorkel, boogie boards and beach towels were certainly great amenities that came in handy. Two great bonuses of the place is that it's located between Lahaina and Kihei which provided many options for dining-out. It is also within 8-minute walk to Maalaea General Store which is a great breakfast spot and serves seriously the best ice cream I have had in my life so far: Pineapple & Mango Soft Serve. All in all, it was a pleasant experience, however, the beach out front and nearby is way rockier than expected(and the water is rough as well) so we ended up driving to Lahaina so kiddo could jump in the wave without us freaking out about him injuring himself. If you are a surfer who enjoys choppy water, this is certainly a great place to stay!

We are very happy with our stay at Hono Kai A5. I greatly appreciate the tupperware and cookware which made the occasional cooking a breeze. The beach chairs, boogie boards and snorkel certainly came in handy as well. We were slightly disappointed about the beach which was way rougher than expected but it's not the end of the world either. Thank you for maintaining this cozy and lovely space!

Loved the decor and the availability of convenient things like cooler, beach towels, chairs, etc.! We absolutely loved staying here. Right next to the ocean- loved hearing the waves in the morning, and walking along the beach as soon as we woke up! Also loved going home with clean laundry since we had a washing machine across from our room. Beautiful condo and great amenities!

If you are looking for a beachfront condo that is ground level and walks right out onto the sand then this is the place. There is a two mile undeveloped white sand beach that you can walk on every day with few people around. The condo is newly remodeled and very clean. This is the most central area of Maui and is a great place to begin any of your adventures around the island. The condo has boogie boards, beach chairs, and a cooler.

This condo has an amazing view and is simply steps from the beach. It is very clean, and is stocked with a little bit of "starter" stuff for your stay. If you are staying a long time (We stayed 1 week), you may need additional trash bags etc. We recycled accordingly so that wasn't too much of an issue for us. They offer a really great cooler, chairs, snorkel gear, and 1 extra set of sheets/pillows/pull out bed cover. There are a few pots and pans, this is HI so I was shocked no little rice cooker! LOL! They do provide some beach towels, and some reusable bags so you don't have to pay the little charge at the grocery stores. In this condo, you will be close to the harbor where a lot of the excursions head out of, I recommend the tours from there as most are very reasonable, even with the rising prices due to tourism coming back and of course inflation. There are a few restaurants, a gas station, and a fast food joint if you don't want to venture far on some days. This is the 2nd time staying at this particular condo building and the view and access from this unit is divine. I will tell you, that from this property you will enjoy miles of quiet clean beaches, friendly neighbors, turtles, whales (dep. on time of year), lots of lizards, and etc. At night the view from the Lanai is divine, and the groundskeeper is out every single morning cleaning the grounds. It is always completely spectacular and clean! The only reason I gave a 4 star instead of 5 is that I feel, due to being managed by a property management company the cleaning fee, service fees were a bit high. one of the highest I have paid to date using airbnb.

The property is older and the population (very friendly during our stay) is pretty dense. I was surprised to find so many strip malls-more than I saw on other islands. However, this particular condo was very well cared for and exceptionally clean and comfortable. We loved the view and proximity of the bay, and the ocean breezes that refreshed everything.

The condo appears to be older, and certainly has challenges, but it is in excellent repair and exceptionally clean. The area is dense in terms of population but we still enjoyed the ocean view and lovely breezes. Everyone was friendly and thoughtful. I was impressed with the work and effort needed to maintain the lovely landscaping though the parking area could use a few more plants. We were grateful for a very receptive management who let us in when we arrived early.

Loved our stay at Hono Kai. Perfectly located in a central part of the island. Walking distance to Harbor for whale watching. I was able to see whales right from the Lanai! Condo was clean and perfect size for my family of three. Beach chairs, cooler and boogie board where a great bonus. I will definitely stay here again!

What a great place… literally 50 ft from the ocean and miles of Sandy beach to walk with very few tourists. Nice pool and easy to get around! Truly a “Perfect Stay”. You just can’t get any closer to the beach than this unit! We enjoyed a relaxing stay, everything was as listed. Beautifully decorated and clean! All the extras were much appreciated- nice Tommy Bahama beach chairs, ice chest, 2 thick beach towels. For coffee lovers, some filters were available for use, so no need to buy them, a starter gift with a sampler of coffee was included- this unit has a coffee pot, not a Keurig. The coffee pot does not automatically “shut off” so be sure to turn off when you’re done sipping your Joe for the morning or it will burn your coffee all day Parking is close, but small/tight spaces, so if you’re in a larger vehicle/van you may fit best in the entry parking (rather than taking up more than one space at a time and upsetting other guests). We didn’t use the laundry room, but it’s directly across the hall from the unit. Due to unit’s first floor location, privacy is only had when you keep the curtains closed, otherwise everyone can and will look in your unit when the curtains are open. Not a big deal for us, just worth mentioning. The king size bed was very comfortable, we did not use the sofa bed. The door to separate the king bedroom from the living room is a nice sliding slated 3 panel door, As well as the bathroom door, although this provides visual privacy, it’s not a solid door to help with sound proofing- again not a big deal for us, just worth mentioning if you prefer more privacy. No need for a white noise sound machine, unless the sound of waves crashing doesn’t lull you to sleep. To us the waves were the perfect white noise! We visited in late October, sunrise and sunset lit up the sky, gorgeous hues of orange and pink- no complaints here, however you won’t have a direct view of either, it rises behind one island and sets behind the hillside of the other. Overall, we had a wonderful stay, HIGHLY recommend this unit for a couple with/without a small child/children. Excellent amenities and location for those with a rental car. We will definitely be back and recommend this unit to anyone visiting this area of the island! Mahalo!

Location, location, location are a definite pro which dictates the hefty price. 10 steps from small beach and 5 steps to pool. Clean for the most part with upgraded appliances. The Complex is small and has a homey feel. Did see a roach in the bath tub and the tub did not drain well. If you take a shower beware a little lake will appear at your feet. there were a lot of “cleaning” requirements before we left or be charged 150/hr for cleaning fee, a little steep in my opinion but we are clean people anyways. I would recommend this place to a friend.

This stay was a great start to our 2 week multi-island vacation! Perfect for a couple or small family looking for quiet and relaxation. We loved having the beach steps away from the back door. I’m going to miss my morning coffee overlooking the ocean. The pool is small but well maintained and never crowded, and we spent most days on the beach anyway. The apartment was very clean, furniture and appliances all looked new. The kitchen was well stocked, and directly across the unit there is a laundry room. Beach towels, boogie boards, and sand toys also supplied. There are a couple of restaurants, small convenience store, and a bus stop all within a 12 minute walk. Besides that not much else around. We took a 30 minute bus trip out to Lahaina and spent a great day there surfing and eating. When visiting Kihei we took a ride-share as public transportation would require multiple buses/double the time. I would highly recommend this stay, and hope to have the opportunity to return!

It was a perfect stay for my family. We really enjoyed our stay here. It had everything we needed. They have beach chairs in the closet that made a difference during our beach trips. Plenty of kitchen supplies if you decide to stay in and cook. Easy parking. Only downside for us was that we felt there wasn’t that much nearby. You really need a rental car to get around. However, beach access is literally at the end of the road which is great. Overall we had a great stay.

This unit was recently renovated and everything seemed brand new and clean. Check in/out was a straightforward process. The couch and king size bed were comfortable. The shower head was strong, which is helpful in blasting any remaining sand after a full beach day. If you like to watch TV, be aware that the Roku TV has terrible sound quality. There’s a full kitchen if you’d prefer to cook and the fridge worked well. The place also had two beach chairs, beach towels, and two boogie boards. The laundry room is across from the unit and has two washers and two dryers. If you do laundry first thing in the morning, you don’t have to wait but be mindful to stay on top of it for others to use. The prime location really makes this a gem. It is a 15-minute drive straight down from Kuhului/OGG. There aren’t too many food options nearby but we didn’t mind driving to Kihei for food. The location in Maalaea is approximately halfway between your West and South Maui beaches. When you pull into the parking lot, go left and park either under the trees for shade or as close as you can towards the building/beach (parking is free and you can grab a hang tag after filling out the form—instructions will be provided with your check in info). The unit itself is literally 15 steps away from the water (even closer for the pool). As such, you can hear the waves crashing on the beach at night! You can also hear the neighbors if they’re chatting and hanging out by the pool. Have breakfast/coffee and read on your patio underneath the plumeria tree with the mountains/ocean in full view. Then take a walk on the beach (we saw a turtle our first day by the rocks) or an early dip while the water’s calmer in the morning. Pro tips: Bring or rent your snorkel gear, rent an umbrella for the week, use the provided beach chairs/towels and you’re all set. Pack a hammock as there are some trees on the shore that you can tie it to and perch yourself on the beach for a few hours. Bring quarters ($3.00 per wash/dry load) if you plan to do laundry. if you are a light sleeper then don’t forget to pack your ear plugs and a sleeping mask because the blinds don’t fully block the light out. Don’t leave any food out to prevent any island bugs (roaches) from getting into your unit, and close your suitcases/bags when they’re on the floor.

It was as described and very clean. Provided us with many towels and beach towels. Had beach chairs and boogie boards in the closet which worked out perfectly. Steps away from the beach just made it even more beautiful, we could hear the waves at night and in the morning. Would stay again when we return.

Everything was brand new. From the furniture, appliances, and decor. Literally 15 steps to the beach and 10 steps to the pool. Beach chairs, cooler, and new towels available. New silverware and kitchenware. Washer and dryer across the hallway and the communication was awesome. Wifi was excellent. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Maui, Hawaii to book this property.

We enjoyed many things about this place. Great location to drive to other parts of the island. We loved the sound of the ocean and being steps from the beach. I went for a run on the beach every morning. If you run 3 miles down the beach just past Sugar Beach Resort there is an awesome Farmers Market across the street and ABC Store. The Farmers Market has excellent Acai Bowls and Banana Bread. You can also drive there. The bed was very comfortable and all the towels were new and fluffy. It was very convenient to use the beach towels, chairs and cooler provided. All came in very handy. There are a couple places to eat walking distance at Harbor but we never tried them. We would stay at this place again and plan to come back. Tips- bring mosquito spray. Use hose outside to wash off sand. Park on left side if you want to be bit closer to unit. Bring quarters for washers and dryer.

We loved this beachfront condo and could were very happy that the unit was close to the airport (15 minutes) and right in the middle of the everything that we wanted to see on the island. It is beautifully remodeled and everything is new modern. We enjoyed walking right out the back door and onto the white sand beach. The beach is about two miles long with no buildings and very few people. It was what we dreamed Hawaii beaches to be. We dined down the street by the aquarium and marina at Beach Bums but also prepared many meals at the condo. We will be back to stay here again. Five stars!

Perfect little condo for a romantic getaway or even a small family! My husband and I ditched the kids this time & spent 5 wonderful nights at this condo in Hono Kai. The attention to detail spent renovating this condo is obvious as soon as you walk in the door. It’s modern and clean with upscale finishes and brand new everything! The back door opens up to the pool and just a step down to a perfect beach that’s easily visible from the lanai. We enjoyed being able to wake up each morning and stroll the miles of sandy beach while the sun rose over Maalaea Bay. It was magical, we saw sea turtles in the water daily! The condo is just a short 15 min drive from the airport and in a perfect central location. This gave us the availability to bounce back and forth between Kihei and Lahaina with ease. Nothing was more than a 30 min drive from this little slice of heaven! Maalaea Harbor is a short walk away with charming gift shops, a restaurant (Beach Bums) with good food and live music, and PacWhales Eco Adventures, who took us on an unforgettable whale watching tour! The staff at Hono Kai and MyPerfectStays were both friendly and so easy to work with. My husband and I couldn’t have asked for more and we can't wait to go back!! If you’re looking for an unforgettable trip to Maui with a beautiful, perfectly located condo to rest your head at the end of the day, look no further!
