If you’re looking for a break that includes sun, warmth, and plenty of fun this June, you’ll want to make sure you consider Maui for your next vacation. There are a number of fun and exciting year-round things to do on Maui. When you come in June, there are a variety of events and festivals to enjoy as well. You can plan your vacation around one of these events, or just make sure to include them on your itinerary while you’re with us.

World Whale Film Festival

The eighth annual event is an event that last nearly all summer long! The Pacific Whale Foundation is hosting the event that’s dedicated to celebrating marine conservation efforts and indigenous ecological knowledge. The festival’s goal is to raise awareness about the vital role of oceans through visual arts and storytelling. The event takes place during World Ocean Month, starting June 6 and running through July 31. Get more information and purchase tickets at the Pacific Whale Foundation website.

56th Annual Makawao Parade

Come watch the parade that weaves through historic Makawao. The parade ends at the Oskie Rice Event Center in Makawao, where there will be a country music concert. Set up your spot on the street to watch horses, classic cars, and more cruise the street, then prepare for all the music and fun.

Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and even tents to set up near the event center for the concert. There will be food vendors selling delicious food and drink throughout the event. The parade steps off at 9 a.m. on June 29, 2024.

33rd Annual Maui Ki Ho’alu Guitar Festival

The event features some of Hawai’i’s best slack key guitar players, performing selections of melodious Hawaiian music. The “Ki Ho’alu” Hawaiian phrase translates to “loosen the key,” the tuning in slack key guitar technique, which is a musical tradition dating back to 19th century paniolo. The paniolo played around the campfire after completing the day’s ranch work. The family-friendly event is free and also features a number of food vendors to quench your thirst and appetite throughout the festival. The event takes place June 30, 2024, from 3-7 p.m.
