Spoil yourself with a special island getaway to Maui for your Easter break. Book a trip full of fun and excitement or rest and relaxation or create a balanced mix that’s sure to keep everyone happy and excited every day. Spring air temperatures are rising into the low 80s for highs, and water temps are in the mid-70s, so you’ll want to plan as much time outdoors this Easter in Maui, with a sprinkle of indoor activities for an unexpected rainy day or just to get out of the sun for a while. No matter what you choose, there is an array of Easter and year-round activities to create a trip full of Easter memories that are unique to you and your loved ones.

Easter Services

For visitors looking to include the solemn religious celebration, Maui has many churches holding Easter services. Contact your preferred place of worship and ask about dates, times, and locations. Some may even offer sunrise services on the beach!

Easter Meal

Whether or not you attended services, celebrate with the big traditional Easter meal. Restaurants on the island will be serving up the traditional feast, whether it’s served at brunch, lunch, or dinnertime. Some restaurants offer it exclusively, while others serve it alongside their regular menu. Contact your restaurant of choice to ask about reservations, or whether you can order the special meal for pick up or delivery to enjoy at your accommodations with loved ones.

There are plenty of things to do and see during an island vacation, but you’ll no doubt find yourself at the beach nearly every day. Spend your Easter retreat with beach activities like taking a walk along the shore, or a swim in the Pacific. You may even decide to try a new activity like surfing or stand up paddleboarding. Lay out and sunbathe or pack a picnic. No matter how you spend your time on the beach, make sure to pack the sun protection and some beach snacks for lazing the day away.

There are many charter companies that will take you out into the Pacific for a chance to swim and discover what lies beneath the water. Keep your eyes peeled for turtles, fish, and even whales and dolphins swimming nearby. Make sure to pick up a disposable underwater camera to get fun shots of the sea life you swim with.

Road to Hana

Pack up the rental car and go on a unique sightseeing excursion. The Road to Hana is 64 miles long, and is full of hairpin turns, one-lane bridges, and a number of blind spots. You may start out thinking a 25-mile-an-hour speed limit is slow, but you’ll be thankful for it as the road twists and turns.

The road to Hana isn’t just about driving. There are scenic hikes to beautiful waterfalls, lava tubes and rocks, black sand beaches, and historic sites like Charles Lindbergh’s grave. Brave the road on your own and plan your own stops or join a tour with a knowledgeable guide who will take you to many of the best landmarks and hiking spots so you don’t miss a thing. However you navigate the path, make sure to pack plenty of drinks, snacks, and your camera.

Haleakalā National Park

Hawaii has many national memorials, parks, and historic sites, including a national park on Maui. Visit Haleakalā National Park in Kula during your Easter vacation. It’s a special place full of both ancient and modern Hawaiian culture. The park also cares for several endangered species, some of which exist only in Maui and nowhere else in the world. Gaze upon stark volcanic landscapes and sub-tropical rain forest and more on a hike through the park’s backcountry.

Lahaina Banyan Court Park

The banyan tree in Lahaina is the oldest banyan tree in the U.S. To see it, head to Lahaina Banyan Court Park. The now giant tree was just a single eight-foot-tall sapling when it was planted April 24, 1873 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the arrival of the first European missionaries. Today, the over 150-year-old tree stands over 60 feet tall, with a crown spread of more than 225 feet across 16 main trunks to cover nearly two acres of land.

Although the wildfires of 2023 burned much of the area around the famed tree, the tree’s roots have held on, and it continues to stand as a testament to time and nature. Local arborists have checked the tree and its roots and have found signs of a healthy tree beneath the charred outer layers.
